The Junior League of Lufkin is proud to host Kids in the Kitchen and Camp Get Fit, a combined summer initiative designed to set the foundation for a lifetime of wellness. Held annually at the Boys and Girls Club of Lufkin, this program is tailored specifically for children entering the 3rd and 4th grades.
A Focus on Lifelong Wellness
Through an engaging and interactive curriculum, campers explore the pillars of a healthy lifestyle. Our program focuses on three core areas to help children develop positive habits early:
-
Nutritional Cooking: Hands-on lessons where children learn to prepare simple, healthy, and delicious snacks and meals.
-
Active Exercise: Fun physical activities that encourage movement and show that staying fit can be an enjoyable part of every day.
-
Health Awareness: Educational sessions that teach children the "why" behind their choices, emphasizing the long-term benefits of a balanced lifestyle.

Part of a National Movement
Kids in the Kitchen is more than just a local project—it is part of a high-profile national campaign launched by the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). By participating, the Junior League of Lufkin joins leagues across the world in the fight against childhood obesity and the promotion of nutritional literacy.
Our mission is to empower the youth of Angelina County with the tools and knowledge they need to make healthy choices today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
