Rainbow Room

The Junior League of Lufkin has teamed up with Lufkin Community Partners and Child Protective Services (CPS) to work in the Rainbow Room. Lufkin Community Partners is a non-profit organization developed to raise money for the Rainbow Room.

The Rainbow Room is a room located within the Child Protective Services’ offices. This room is stocked with clothes, baby items, hygiene items, car seats, etc. for children with emergent needs as well as children placed in the foster care system. For example, a child removed from their home and placed in foster care may need diapers, formula, or clothes. Caseworkers from CPS are allowed to use the supplies as needed.

Our volunteers inventory and organize the items in the Rainbow Room. Donations are accepted daily, thus the room needs to be organized weekly. During the holidays, our volunteers will help wrap presents for the children. Snack bags are stocked and located in the Rainbow Room for children in emergency situations waiting to be placed in a foster home.

For interested volunteers:
The Rainbow Room is open from 8-5 Monday through Friday. The hours are flexible. Please schedule a minimum of 3 - 4 hours per month beginning in September through the end of May.
