Career Conference

What do you want to be when you grow up? Will you be a doctor? A masseuse? A cosmetologist? Do you remember deliberating about this when you were young? This choice is one of the most significant and often, one of the most difficult decisions that our young people face!

The 2011 Career Conference will be held on Tuesday, May 10, at Lufkin Middle School. The one day conference includes a motivational speaker, a team building activity, several career choice speakers and The College Road Trip activity. College Road Trip is a hands-on career exploration assembly delivered by Sky Ranch Camps. The College Road Trip is designed to help students understand the value of a dollar and the relationship between educational levels and earning potential.

At the 2010 Career Conference, several students realized that in order to afford the things they wanted, they would need to go to college. All 650 8th grade students attended the conference.
